The Cabin in the Woods

The Cabin in the Woods directed by Drew Goddard

Hello everyone! Today I'm back with another review! Hopefully someone will have heard of this film before reading the review (for some reason, it is not as well known as it should).

The film is about a group of friends that plan on spending a weekend in a house recently bought by the cousin of one of them (Chris Hemsworth). But that isn't quite it, of course. I'm not sure if I can tell you straight away what's exactly going on in the film, so, let's just leave it there, something else is going on.

The film is very interesting because it's basically a parody of the "horror film" that we are used too, and you know that since minute one, when they turn a cliché into something amazing (something as simple as turning one of the characters , randomly, blond). This is not the only thing they make fun about, of course. It's the whole film the puts regular horror films into perspective, because let's be honest, they are pretty bad.

The acting in the film is great, seriously, that's because it is a parody where the actors are not acting a parody, just to make myself clear, they are not acting as if they were in the 10th Scary Movie. This is great acting, together with GREAT writing. There are great twists to the story, and yes, it might be predicable for those who are diehard fans of the genre, but that's the idea, and it's great.

The directing was actually really cool, showing only what needed to be shown all the time, not really serious… that's when you know that you are watching a "cult film" basically because everyone knows what they are doing; they are not filming "Citizen Kane", and they know that, and that makes the film really, really cool. So, it isn't "Citizen Kane", but it might very well be another kind of "The Rocky Horror picture show" which is way more entertain than Kane.

MadHatterSays: Watch it!
